Take A Picture

HEY Y'ALL. Had a nice day? The weather is super nice here in my little corner of the world after a long trial of rain. It feels good to just stand outside. I just wanted to post a tiny little note but I MUST write about whom I'm listening to:

ARTIST: Ben Folds SONG TO HEAR: Landed
Ben Folds may be one of the most versatile artists of the past few decades. Making it onto the scene in the late '80s as front man of the Ben Folds Five, Ben Folds has produced a number of records spanning over about five different genres that come immediatly to my mind. In his solo career, Ben has more than four albums (some singles) which inlcude "Songs for Silverman", a 2005 record on which B.F. purges his soul to the world of his piano loving fans. "Landed" starts out as a sad semi-ballad with some simple piano keys clinking and erupts into a full-on blast of emotion by the second chorus. Another favorite of mine is "Annie Waits" which is (similarly) almost a ballad but by the end makes you want to clap to the beat and cry at the same time. This type of music is a clear contrast to the other kind of music he makes such as "Rocking the Suburbs" (on the album of the same name) on which Ben Folds jokes about his "whiteboy-ness" and how his parents are to blame for his spouting off obsenities at the mike. It absolutely hilarious and it's in a completely different style from his other songs but Ben Folds still has yet to see a genre he doesn't like.

Ah well. It's starting to rain now.

More later,

Kit
