Dear Director
"I LOVE YOU TOO, BUT I'M GOING TO MACE YOU IN THE FACE." This is one of the humorous lines in the Darjeeling Limited trailer. In other words:
WES ANDERSON IS BACK (I know this blog is getting heavy into movies right now, but it's the summer, and where else am I going to go for excellent previews and vomitous artificial butter taste?)and so is his penchant for the sweet, simple, airy tunes that define his film style. In the trailer for his latest (out this September), the Kink's "This Time Tomorrow" hypes us up. See below for standard Wes Anderson film equation:
WES ANDERSON RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
1 MAX FISCHER (aka the multitalented Jason Schwartzman) + ONE OF THE WILSON BROTHERS + ONE LEADING LADY (usually to fall in love with Schwartzman and help him figure out what's wrong with him) + ANGELICA HOUSTON + A PLOT ABOUT INNER STRUGGLES AND FAMILY TIES. You may substitute one of these ingredients for a comedic supporting man (some fresh Ben Stiller or Adrien Brody), stir well, and broil in the broth of a brilliant soundtrack (something light that just tumbles along, anything from the Kinks to the Faces). Let cool and you have a fabulously crafted Wes Anderson flick.
The Darjeeling Unlimited trailer is below:
This just in: Wes Anderson is set to direct the movie adaption of Roald Dahl's The Fantastic Mr. Fox, featuring the voices of George Clooney and Cate Blanchet. Oh, and guess who's in talks? Mr. Jaaaaaaason Schwartzman and Ms. Angelica Houston. Whudathunkit?
More later,
Kit
