Asleep

I'm exaughsted and on my way to bed. The Smiths help me dream (for those of you who caught the "Asleep" refrence) Sha. Let's do this thing.

Just as I prophesized- the new Beck CD is as mind blowing as the Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks- if not more so ("Strange Apparation" is like the lovechild of Beck's best tackled elements- a funky beat, a little cowbell (!) a folk dreamy quality held together by a structured piano tune and of course, Beck's signature vocals-moany and resounding and scratchy and perfect). AND THERE ARE STICKERS IN THE BOOKLET! HELLO?! But getting back to the Caramel Apple Cider- yum. In fact, Starbuck's drinks are so addictive that they've raised the price a nickle a coffee! Let's hear what an expert has to say on the subject- over to you Stephen!

Diving back into the music pool, may I share with you my Halloween playlist? Thanks, I think I will.

ALL HALLOW'S EVE : music for halloween parties where all the cool kids are. no monster mashing here.

Hell's Bells- AC/DC (Starts out with a big gong and shifts into electric guitar. Cool.)

Halloween- Siouxsie and the Banshees (this song actually scares me sometimes. like for real.)

Helena- My Chemical Romance (maybe you know this one. a little more punky pop than my classic punk/rock theme but what can you do?)

Here it Goes Again- Ok Go (a bit of power popish music so you actually get up to dance, if only to shift from foot to foot like a Peanut in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!", an epic classic and Halloween staple.)

Thriller- Michael Jackson (given!)

Marie Douceur, Marie-colere- Marie Laforet (Paint it Black (scary) in French!)

People are Strange- The Doors (it was hard to pick just one Doors song. "Rider in a Storm" seriously freaked me out when I was eight so that one also works too. :)

Satin in a Cofin- Modest Mouse (Oooh! When I found this song on my old MM cd I was overjoyed that it is a bit Halloweeny (with the line "Are you dead or are you sleeping?") but at the same time a little Irish stomp sounding)

Don't Feat the Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult (the infamous "a little more cowbell song", yes)

Devil's Haircut - Beck (the Devil counts as scary, right?)

London Calling - The Clash (by no means is this Halloween-y but the "come out of the covers, boys and girls" is creepy!)

Halloween - Artichoke (okay, i love the "hallo, hallo, hey-lo!" bit)

Theme from Halloween - John Carpenter (I can't even stay in a room alone with this playing, i feel like Michael Myers is going to come up behind me with a knife of something. Even as I type this I am checking over my shoulder at every few words. How sad is that!)

Every Little Thing She Does is Magic - The Police (rounding it out with a little Sting. You know, magic, witchcraft, ooh! scary! Sorry, I just finished the Crucible. I'm in a witch-y mood, what can I say?)

After yet ANOTHER long weekend spent by paying for pancakes with pennies, bruising my shins in soccer, brunching with Bloody Marys (c'est chic), and urban apple picking (a term coined by my father: when you go to pick apples at a farm in the middle of nowhere and they say they have no more apples but suggest you "pick" apples from the bins in the farmers market.) I am yet again ready to the work week. But I still can't get over this: they were very good apples but I stand firm in my belief that they would be that much sweeter if we picked them ourselves.

Must go but I will honestly try to keep up more!

All you need is love,

Kit
