Stitched Up

Hey everyone, how are you loving my newly improved blog? Yeah, I was inspired to make it- how you say?- a bit more unique. It took me awhile but I think it was worth it. I'm feeling a little alt/punky-emo right now, how about some?

ALBUM: The Paramour Sessions ARTIST: Papa Roach

After the shockingly huge breakout track on 2004's "Getting Away With Murder" entitled "Scars" (which I liked for less than half a second) I feel as though I was let down, even though I wasn't so crazy about Papa Roach in the first place. To me, each track sounded the same (except for "The World Around You", the one exception) and I could barely tell the difference between "Crash" and "To Be Loved". The intense semi-screamo sound is repeated over and over again and the hardcore metalrock I feel like they're are trying to capture seems so overdone! Sorry Roach fans, but I'm going to have to break out the insect repellent on this one.

ALBUM: Welcome to the Black Parade- EP ARTIST: My Chemical Romance

Everyone knows My Chemical Romance as the gothic quintet from New Jersey that sang "Helena" and "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)". Although these are both ace songs from their 2004 sophmore album "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge", once they rose up the alternative charts, their angry emo started hitting sugary sweet top forty stations, thus ruining it for the rest of us. I now and always have stood behind MCR, and I applaud the band in their newest EP, Welcome to the Black Parade, which is a sample of their work to come. There is one single (WTTBP) and a forty minute interview with bits of inspiration and chatter from the band, plus a couple of song snips. My final word? Can't wait for the new album but I may be a teense bit biased. My only complaint is that Gerard Way (lead singer) hacked off his signature black shoulder length locks and dyed his new cropped hair platinum. Ah well, who cares? The boys are back in town!

You may have heard of Professor Murder, but chances are, you probably haven't. This disco infused punk band proves that you reallly can't go wrong with post-punky influences with a little cowbell and harmonica mixed in. Actually, it's quite possible for you to go wrong and screw that combination up really bad but some how Professor Murder puts it together in a pretty sweet little package called "Professor Murder Rides the Subway- EP". Check out "The Mountain" my favorite track and start from there. Remember, if you are not a disco-punk fan, this may not be for you. But mark my words: You can never go wrong with "more cowbell".

I've got to go (my sister just asked me to download "Informer" by Snow and I'm busy writhing in pain on the carpet).
More later,

Kit

Ps, is the title a reference to the AWESOME John mayer/Herbie Hancock song that we talked about?
