Cold As Ice

Ugh. Sick today and I feel like death. Ah, that's okay, don't feel too sorry for be. I get to read back issues of Rolling Stone and watch old episodes of The Office and Ugly Betty while drinking copious amounts of sugary juice. Oh poor me. May I just say that I love B.J. Novak. He's brilliant. Rainn Wilson is also funny but the creep factor is intensly upped with him.

This is one of my all time favorite moments of the Office ever. Everytime a fire truck goes by someone goes "STAY BELOW THE SMOKELINE!" or "STAT MEANS NOW!" or "YES! Great response time guys. Listen I have some theories about how the fire started-" in a true Dwight like manor. Let's watch, shall we?

I have many musical secrets and I am about to share one with you lucky lucky readers! Audiolunchbox.com is a superb website that sells mp3's of the indie music genre and also has an entire section of free mp3s. It's legal and it'll open your eyes to obscure talent that you can't find anywhere else. That's audiolunchbox.com, so head over there and find artists like Alexi Murdoch, Flaming June, The Sadies, and other favorites of mine. Trust me: I know these things.

Is it just me or is emo/screamo up to an all time high? With the genre expanding to everything from music to clothing lines (Clandestine with some Butter on top?) all the punky boys and girls can live, sleep, and breathe...emo. You can buy the stuff, you can hear the stuff, you can wear the stuff, but what IS the stuff exactly? Check out www.fourfa.com, the best explanation of emo since who knows when. After all, don't you want to be as hip as the cool kids are?

Right now I'm listening to Maritime's "Parade of Punk Rock T-Shirts" and everytime I hear the beginning I feel like something big is going to happen as I used to feel with "Clocks" by Coldplay and still do from time to time. It's one of...those songs, you know? I'm also listening to the Go! Team's "Huddle Formation" which is an sassy electro-cheerleading kind of tune with double dutchish lyrics and an indie beat. A fantabulous indie Brit sextet, already Lollapalooza vets with preformances aside Sonic Youth and the Flaming Lips under their belts. I'm forseeing big things in their future.

Next post I'll share with you my take on the Plague compilation album featuring Rufus Wainwright and Imogen Heap but until then you'll just have to check regularly and cross your fingers for some progress here.

Au revoir!

-Kit

WOW back issues of Rolling Stone are one of the many things that make my life worth living?
How far back do you go?
I've got em back to 1980, but they suck until around 2002, I think.

    Hope you feel better.

The emo obsession has sort of passed over here. Maybe it's because most of our emo bands haven't been releasing any songs recently?

    I love Spin too..I'm getting a subscription.
I like Blender as well but it lately has started to look a little like soft-core porn...on the cover.
They put scantily clad women on the cover and then good music content. It's very troubling.

    Haha Exactly me too!
I'm scared to even take it to the counter because I Don't want people to think I'm dirty. I want to be like "NOOO, look on the inside! It's not like that on the inside!"
I'm thinking of getting a subscription but then my parents would be like "Uhmm..."

I think it's publshed by the same people that publish "Maxim"...so I guess its the Music "Maxim", which explains it.
