No Breaks
Sorry about the wait on a post. I was acutallly working my way through Washington, D.C. this past week, so getting together a playlist was quite hard to do on the move. Speaking of our nation's capital, rock heavyweights and champions of the D.C. scene, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, dropped their "Living with the Living" in the past week. Leo has been a prominent feature on the face of controversial political songwriting since 1998's self titled release, never sheepish to put down his opinions in black and white.
Youth Group's latest (Casino Twilight Dogs) is at the top of the College Radio Station charts (download "Shadowland" for syrupy yet crisp emo) as well as the Kaiser Cheif's (Your Truly, Angry Mob).
Connor Oberst (of Bright Eyes)'s latest is out in April, as well as Patty Smith's.
And now for a new playlist of music i listened to in D.C. to welcome the new season :
SOME SPRING IN YOUR STEP: 'cause music should be even better than a chocolate easter egg
The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades is Out to Get Us!-Sufjan Stevens: In the signature style of Stevens, his seeming random orchestratic collaborations triumph again.
It's 5!-Architecture in Helsinki: The unique six piece has a juvenille-clap your hands-amazon 'n techy-pop sound. Absolutely like nothing you've heard.
Tenderness-General Public: The eighties band (that recently reformed as The Beat) provide a sweet rock infused new wavy tune.
Parachute-Sean Lennon: Practically a track off of a Daddy Lennon B-Side, Sean continues to live up to his father's example of clean but buzzy, digestible and always acroamatic dream pop.
More later,
Kit
