Five Minutes to Midnight
Say it with me: "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" This is, perhaps, one of the most fantastic movies ever. If you haven't seen it, it's on ABC tonight. WATCH IT!!!!
It really goes without saying that a couple of albums are rocking my charts this week like The Black Parade (My Chemical Romance's excellent attempt at keeping the same sound with different songs and style. This is much harder than it sounds), The Marie Antoinette Soundtrack (perfect blend of your not so typical teenage angst (Strokes!), your MOTHER's teenage angst (New Order, The Cure, Adam and the Ants), and popsical- classical plus pop). It is also needless to say that I love Ben Fold's latest: Supersunnyspeedgrass. I love "B****** Ain't S**t" (which was released as a single last year that I've been listening to), a madeover "gentler" take on the Dr. Dre song but I implore you to listen to it with headphones on so only you can hear Ben Fold's foul, foul mouth. About 10 out of the 12 songs on the album have been already released on EPs but unreleased until now are "Bruised" (which he has done live with Bens Kweller and Lee) and "Still". "All U Can Eat" and "Landed" are probably two of my favorites but you can pick and choose yours, don't let me influence you. Too much.
Below is Ben Fold's video for "Landed", freakily exactly how I envisioned it.
Yes, Halloween is coming up and would I really be me if I didn't share the number one Halloween soundtrack right now? It's The Nightmare Before Christmas with all new covers of "This is Halloween" (one done by, who other than Marilyn Manson (and a suprising one by Panic! At the Disco), "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" (done up by She Wants Revenge in a electro-disco-y fashion) and (my favorite) "Sally's Song" (done by Fiona Apple and her grungy cool style). Pretty nice. On Halloween, I myself am going as Joni Mitchell and my sister is going to be Carly Simon, so we've got a whole folk-duo thing going.
Are all you Bravery fans sick of waiting for the infamous eyeliner wearing new-wave boys to drop another album? Well too bad 'cause I can't do anything to speed up the process. But what I can do is tell you that the new album will come out early next year and it's called "The Sun and the Moon". Hmmmm...sounds kind of-how do I put this?- not dance-y? That's because it's not. Says frontman Sam Endicott, "We went so synth-crazy that it got a little boring to us." Will the Bravery go folk on us? The Dead 60's is definetly not enough to satisfy our electro-80's wave cravings! What will we do? Where will we go for our synthisizer!? How will we survive?!?! But most importantly of all, was it all just an "Honest Mistake"? I guess we'll find out when the album comes out...
Have you heard the recently leaked Gwen Stefani track (thanks Meghan!)? It's called "Wind It Up" and you can totally see Gwen's signature Hollaback Girl (as well as some clear Fergie Ferg) on top of...the Lonely Goatheard from the Sound Of Music? Believe it or not, it's true. Maybe it's not what you expect of Gwen but it sure is different. What do you think? Check it out at:

Must go (I'm watching the Office, I missed it Thursday. Don't you dare ruin it for me),
Kit
P.S. Listening to "From the Ritz to Rubble" by the Arctic Monkeys. Love it. "You're too deep, but how deep is too deep?"
Also listening to "Young Lawyer" by the French Kicks and "Us" by Regina Spektor.
