God Save The Queen?
Gotta make this quick-
NEW PLAYLIST ALERT! Yes, sound the sirens everyone, I have a new list for you lucky, lucky people. Well, enough of the buildup here it goes-
Dream Scream: originally by Daniel Johnston, cover by Death Cab For Cutie (The tribute album to the "Late, Great Daniel Johnston" is really great. With covers by Beck, TV on the Radio, and Teenage Fanclub, in addition to Death Cab, is it possible to go wrong?)
Love Me or Hate Me: Lady Sovereign (I've had this on my ipod for forever but since Lady's first full length LP dropped on the 31st, it only makes sense to pay tribute to the "vertically challenged" white British girl breaking boundaries by busting into a genre traditionally done by...a different set. Lady Sovereign's hip hopping album (Public Warning) is out now.)
Panic- Oh! : Los Abandoned (The lead singer of Los Abandoned switches from Spanish to English without warning in midsentence. Shouldn't that bilinguality be recognized, especially if it sounds like a Chilean Blondie song?)
Such Great Heights: originally by the Postal Service, Cover by Ben Folds (I have yet to get through a post without mentioning a Ben. Maybe this piano infused cover doesn't do the electronic Ben Gibbard + Jimmy Tamborello classic justice, but atleast it puts a signature Ben Folds spin on it. Personally I prefer the cover Ben Folds did of...
Tiny Dancer : Elton John (My favorite Elton John song hands down. Love everything about the song)
Daughter : Pearl Jam (Recorded in a very important year for me, the best Pearl Jam song. Very underrated.)
Love You Madly : Cake (To me Cake sounds like a mix between some Mighty Mighty Bosstones, seventies funk, Reel Big Fish, and something I can't put a finger on. My sister says this song reminds me of her....I can't imagine why.......)
Help Me : Joni Mitchell (This is, to me, a less clichéd replacement of "Dream Weaver" but much better. Can't you just picture the scene in a movie when the guy walks past the swooning girl with "Help Me" in her head?)
Chelsea Morning : originally by Joni Mitchell covered by Neil Diamond (Another Joni Mitchell song, I know but I can't help it (no joke intended). "Oh, won't you stay, we'll put on the day, and we'll wear it 'till the night comes" ? How can you NOT put that on your playlist?? At least if you're sick of Joni, you can switch to Neil.)
Save Tonight (Eagle Eye Cherry), One Headlight (The Wallflowers), and The Way (Fastball)- All of these songs I remember listening to maybe less than ten years ago in the car. They all eventually wove themselves into one tune and I couldn't tell them apart until I was a bit older.

"Finding out True Love is Blind" by Louie XIV, above (Rounding it out with Louie XIV, all I have to say is wow. Very Siouxsie and the Banshees beginning and very David Bowie vocals. The contreversial band named for a French king (previously under the name of The Convoy) provides catchy San Diego glam rock.)
Gotta head out, hope you loved the list. And if you didn't, well, listen to Lady Sovereign's "Love Me or Hate Me" and you'll know what I mean.
